Lighting has it’s own “language.” Here are some terms that are helpful to know when planning you’re lighting or speaking with a lighting design professional:
Wattage: The amount of electricity (Watts) consumed by a light bulb or LED.
Lumens: A lumen is a measurement of the amount of light that a light bulb or LED produces.
Efficiency: The number of lumens produced per watt – a measurement of “bang for your buck.”
Foot-candles: The amount of light reaching a subject.
